PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
 
Judge Pro Tem.  District Court, King County, Pierce County, 2010--present. Have substantial experience with infractions, small claims, and anti-harassment orders.  Have also done arraignments, pretrial diversion agreements, deferred sentences, violation hearings, guilty pleas, and miscellaneous civil orders.
Arbitrator. King County Superior Court, Snohomish County Superior Court, 2010--present. MAR practice limited to personal injury claims.
Attorney--sole practitioner.  Seattle, 1992--2004.  Litigation practice limited to the representation of injured persons. Cases typically involved negligence claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, but also included premises liability, products liability, and other various torts.
Stay-at-home Dad.  Bellevue, 2004--2010.  Duties involved diapers, educational materials, dog/child safety issues, food, and stroller logistics.
Adjunct Professor.  University of Puget Sound, Central Washington University at Seattle, Everett Community College, Edmonds Community College, 1993--1996. Taught environmental, business, constitutional, and family law to undergraduates.
Attorney--associate.  The Davis Firm, Seattle, 1990--1992. Handled all aspects of litigation, including trial work and oral argument before the Washington State Court of Appeals.
Stand-up comedian.  Seattle area, 1984--1987. Worked in bars and comedy clubs in the Seattle region. Solo act lasted about 30 minutes per set and emphasized political humor and improvisation.
 
VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS & AWARDS
 
Commencement Speaker.  University of Washington School of Law, Seattle, 1990. Chosen by faculty members and graduating class to give farewell address at law school graduation ceremony.
Harborview & Children’s Hospital.  Seattle, May 1999--June, 2002. Provided emotional and physical support to patients ten hours per week. Assisted medical staff with minor procedures such as foreign body removal, suturing, and setting fractures; read books to kids in waiting areas.
Seattle-King County Dispute Resolution Center.  Seattle, 1989--1995. Did volunteer mediations to help people avoid litigation over employment, landlord-tenant, and land-use disputes.
